CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – Whether you’re looking to take in cinematic short films, indie-folk brilliance, or a string-backed Coldplay tribute, there’s plenty to explore across the region. Each week, Anand Harsh of 106.1 The Corner will direct your attention to the music and arts events happening in Charlottesville and surrounding areas that you absolutely can’t miss. CALL THE SITTER

  • Feb 21: Dirty Grass Players @ The Southern Café & Music Hall
These guys can absolutely wail. I’m dead serious. If you like anything adjacent to bluegrass, Americana, folk or you just love watching virtuosos of their craft, go see this band without a second’s hesitation.

  • Feb 22: Tanael Joachim @ The Southern Café & Music Hall
A Haitian immigrant doing comedy in his third language is pretty dang impressive. TJ has a fun and fresh perspective on life and love and now more than ever his message is one of inclusion and understanding. And the jokes are top notch, as well.

CHECK IT OUT

  • Feb 22: Keb’ Mo’ @ The Paramount Theater
I mean this is the highest form of the blues you can witness. There are few legends on the planet who have the resume of Keb’ Mo’ and his tireless touring and performing just makes him better and better each go ’round.
  • Feb 16: Margo Price @ Jefferson Theater
I stand by my comment that Margo Price is this generation’s Dolly Parton. Everyone loves her. She always pops up and joins in with random bands here and there and has such a fun, infectious attitude. She’s a darling of country and this show will be phenomenal.
