CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – Whether you’re looking to take in cinematic short films, indie-folk brilliance, or a string-backed Coldplay tribute, there’s plenty to explore across the region. Each week, Anand Harsh of 106.1 The Corner will direct your attention to the music and arts events happening in Charlottesville and surrounding areas that you absolutely can’t miss. These are, at the very minimum, shows you should hit if you’re in the neighborhood—all the way up to cancel-your-plans, call the sitter, and buy your tickets right now.

CALL THE SITTER

  • August 6: Sunny Sweeney w/ Ramona Martinez @ The Southern Café & Music Hall
A great night of indie country with a strong female voice. Plus Ramona is a local legend so you gotta go support the local set.

GET YOUR TICKETS

  • August 8: Surfing for Daisy w/ Chloe Ester @ The Southern Café & Music Hall
Without pretention the big bunch of folkies from New Jersey is doing an alternative take on the folk scene and having fun with it. They’ll be joined by one of our favorite locals Chloe Ester whose new song “Bad, Too” is incredibly addictive.

CHECK IT OUT

  • August 7: Alligator @ Ting Pavilion
Inter-city rivalry between Charlottesville and Richmond can best be enjoyed when UVA has a distinct advantage in a particular area. I’d like to see our ball club squash those Spiders under the cleats for my own personal satisfaction.
