CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The University of Virginia has made admissions offers to its first prospective students for the Class of 2030, the school announced.

In the first of three admissions rounds, the University extended offers to the 1,225 “early decision” candidates, 776 of whom are in-state residents, out of 5,108 who applied.

“Early decision” is students who are committed to attending UVA upon an early offer of admissions.

“We are incredibly grateful to every student who applied to UVA through our early admission plans and through our spring transfer process,” Dean of Admission Greg Roberts said. “These students will bring something meaningful and unique to the college they choose, and we send every applicant our sincere thanks for their faith in us and interest in UVA.”

81 people earlier in December were extended offers through the spring transfer process to the College of Arts and Sciences.

Though 776 are Virginians, those extended “early decision” offers are from across 40 states and 28 other countries.

Of the two remaining admissions periods, “early action”, which is early admissions offers extended to students who have not made any commitments, will be released by Feb. 15.

“Regular decision” offers will go out by Apr. 1.
