CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – As he made the rounds through the Charlottesville Media Group radio studios last week, Virginia coach Tony Elliott bounced between in-depth football talk, assessing his program’s fan support and answering more pop-culture queries from radio personalities.

Elliott told C-Ville Country’s Paul “Uncle Pauly” McDaniel that to get hyped up before a game, he likes to listen to “Dreams and Nightmares” by Meek Mill. After games? As he recenters himself, Elliott told The Corner’s Fievel has a more toned-down selection.

“I’ve matured a little bit,” Elliott said. “In the past, that would have been something little more upbeat. But really, my biggest job is to be a father and a husband. I have to make sure I remind myself that. So, if I’m riding home, I’m going to cut on a gospel song just to recenter me, so when I walk in the door, I can put away what happened from a long day at work, I can put away being tired, to focus on being present with my family.”

Those appearances were single segments. Tuesday, Elliott returned to his featured role on the hour-long “Coach’s Corner with Tony Elliott,” recording the season premiere. During the season, the show will be live at 7 p.m. weekly from the Dairy Market, and Elliott and host John Freeman will be joined by player guests. Tuesday afternoon, Elliott and host John Freeman recorded the day’s episode, which will air at 7 p.m.

Radio affiliates across the Virginia Sports Radio Network (VSRN) are scheduled to broadcast the show. For a complete list of VSRN affiliates, click here.

Virginia kicks off the season, Elliott’s fourth leading the Cavaliers, on Aug. 30 against Coastal Carolina.
