CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)- Following a season that featured a program-record 11 wins, Tony Elliott has signed an extension to his contract through the 2030 as Virginia’s football coach.

In his fourth season in charge, Elliott led the Hoos to the 2025 ACC Championship Game and to a victory in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl over the Missouri Tigers by a score of 13-7.  The additions to Elliott’s trophy case following this season were numerous, as he was named the TD Club of Richmond Coach of the Year, Bear Bryant ACC Coach of the Year, AP ACC Coach of the Year, and ACC Coach of the Year by the conference itself.

“The commitment to football at the University of Virginia is real and palpable throughout our building…” Elliott said in a statement. “I’m proud of the foundation that we have laid and excited for what we can do together in the years to come.”

Virginia signed two quarterbacks out of the transfer portal this offseason, Beau Pribula, formerly of Penn State and Missouri, and Eli Holstein, formerly of Pittsburgh, and will look to solidify a starter come August.

With the myriad of departures in the portal, Virginia’s team will look nearly unrecognizable to the 2025 squad, and repeating its form will be a challenge.

UVA Athletic Director Carla Williams said in a statement, “The future is bright for UVA Football and we’re excited to continue this work together.”
