CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – All four units in a multifamily dwelling were affected and ten individuals displaced by a mid-morning fire in the 800 block of Old Brook Road off Rio Road in Albemarle County.

According to Albemarle Fire Rescue, career and volunteer personnel were dispatched at 8:51 a.m. and arrived on the scene four minutes later to find smoke coming from the door of one of the units.

Smoke alarms alerted residents of the fire and everyone was able to escape safely.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office, though it is believed to be accidental.
