Body of man last seen SNP found near Lewis Falls

SYRIA, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) The body of Robert Bieri, a 61-year-old man who was reported missing Saturday, was discovered at 12:13 p.m. Monday, near Lewis Falls.

Search crews had been active near Big Meadows in Shenandoah National Park looking for a man missing around that vicinity since Saturday. Brieri was reported missing Saturday evening, last seen off-trail near the falls.

The Lewis Falls trail is a 3.3-mile circuit that originates at Big Meadows. Brieri was wearing a short-sleeved red shirt, green shorts, fanny pack, glasses and tennis shoes. He was about 5-foot-10, 205 pounds, with grey hair and brown eyes.

A search was organized late evening led by SNP Search and Rescue and aided by the Virginia Dept. of Emergency Management and Virginia State Police.
