CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Albemarle County Police Department has obtained 32 additional charges against Maxwell H. Mandel, the 24-year-old Crozet man accused of sexually assaulting victims while babysitting them.

The additional indictments include possession of child pornography, manufacturing child pornography, object sexual penetration, and aggravated sexual battery. In total, Mandell now faces 82 felonies related to the investigation.

Prior to his December arrest, Mandell offered babysitting services and music lessons in and around the Crozet area.

Mandell was arrested on Dec. 5 after Albemarle County Police received a report that a child had been assaulted while in care of Mandell, who was babysitting them at the time. ACPD later askedĀ anyone who may have hired or had contact with Mandell to contact law enforcement.

ACPD is encouraging anyone who hired or had contact with Mandell in a professional capacity at any time to contact Crime Stoppers at (434) 977-4000.

Mandell continues to be held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
