ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) — The Hatcher Family has released a joint statement with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office following a home invasion on Sunday.

The invasion led to a serious altercation with Holly Hatcher and Michael Hatcher, where Holly succumbed to injuries and left Michael with serious injuries.

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office has released more information about the incident.

Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson says the offender, Kevin Moses Walker, a 41-year-old male of Pikesville, Maryland, rented a campsite at Endless Caverns at 2:22pm on Friday, August 1 and took a tour at 3pm. At 5:24pm, Walker entered the Timberville Walmart and purchased a sleeping bag and a large knife.

Hutcheson says on Saturday, August 2, at 6:37am, the Virginia State Police received a call about an abandoned, disabled vehicle believed to have been involved in a crash, on Endless Caverns Road. VSP responded immediately, determined it was properly registered and not stolen, located a one-night Endless Caverns parking pass, and proceeded to go to Endless Caverns to look for the driver.

Police then found that the store at Endless Caverns had been broken into, with damages consistent with being rammed by a motor vehicle. They determined the offender had gone inside and unlocked the doors to the Caverns, but no items were stolen from the store. Police then identified Kevin Moses Walker and found that he was not wanted in any capacity. Premises were canvassed and patrolled by officers, including a drone, and were not able to find Walker on the grounds.

The vehicle was then impounded, and felony warrants were obtained.

The next call to come in was at 11:58pm on Sunday, August 3, from Michael Hatcher during the home invasion.

Sheriff Hutcheson would like to clarify that the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office did not receive any calls until the emergency on Sunday night and the Virginia State Police did not receive any calls until 6:37am on Saturday morning for the abandoned car.

The 2025 season has produced a surprising show of parity through the first five months of the regular season. While most of the league's big spenders — teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and New York Mets — are in good position to make the playoffs and do damage in October, they haven't been as dominant as many expected.
