Cville Police arrest suspect in Monday morning Downtown Mall assault

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Harry Seay has been arrested by Charlottesville Police in connection with an assault that occurred Monday morning on the city’s Downtown Mall, according to a CPD release.

Around 6:44 a.m., officers were approached by a victim who had a serious laceration on the side of the face.

The investigation determined the victim and suspect had a dispute in which the suspect struck the victim in the head with a large rock, an altercation that occurred near 9th St. NE and Market Street, according to the CPD.

After the dispute, according to CPD, the victim was treated for injuries.

Officers were able to locate footage of the assault that provided a clear image of the suspect and was shared with daylight shift officers.

They were quickly able to locate Seay in the area of the assault and take him into custody without incident on a malicious wounding charge.
