Albemarle Fire Rescue responds to residential fire

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A family has been displaced but no injuries were reported after a residential fire in the 400 block of Pickett Lane on Sunday morning.

Albemarle County Fire Rescue received a call at approximately 8:35 a.m., with the first firetruck arriving approximately 10 minutes later to discover smoke and flames showing from the roof of the single-family residence.

The occupants of the home were able to self-evacuate prior to first responders’ arrival. The displaced residents are being assisted by friends and family.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation but ACFR said in its release it does not appear suspicious in nature.
