CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – UVa Dean of Students Allen Groves is moving on after more than 14 years in that position. UVa reports he’s leaving for Syracuse University where on July 1st he’ll begin serving as senior vice president of student experience.

A 1990 UVa law grad, Groves left his law practice in Atlanta of 16 years to take this position at UVa. As dean of students, he could be seen speaking often with them… including in 2013 when at the request of Student Council he shattered the Guinness Book of World Records’ “Most High Fives By An Individual In One Hour” with 2470.

He also took opportunities to educate UVa students with his legal background and First Amendment knowledge.
