A drug that was used in botched executions in other states will remain part of Virginia’s lethal injection mixture. The Department of Corrections is not considering eliminating midazolam (MY ‘duh ZOH lum) from Virginia’s three-drug cocktail. It was used in bungled executions in Ohio, Oklahoma and Arizona. The agency added the drug in February and has not yet used it in an execution. Virginia has eight men on death row, but no execution dates are scheduled.
