VDOT Exceeds Snow Removal Budget – Summer Projects Could Suffer

Some road projects this summer could suffer after what’s happened this winter. Those include paving, buying new equipment, and paying workers overtime. That;s because VDOT has spent a lot more for snow removal than what they put in the budget. The money will have to be taken from what’s been set aside for maintenance. Stacy Londrey of VDOT says the agency¬†already knows the snow removal budget has been exceeded by a long shot. There’s been a lot of publicity about potholes, but¬†Londrey says another big part of the maintenance budget is fixing gravel roads and filling in the ruts caused by runoff from the frequent snow.
