Two area residents say three young men gave them brutal beatings a few days before Christmas on the Downtown Mall, and one victim has asked why City Police delayed assigning their case to an investigator. Victims of the beatdown told C’Ville Weekly they were attacked after 1 a.m. on December 20th in an area between Miller’s and a branch of Wells Fargo Bank. The female victim says the attackers laughed and congratulated each other while they attacked her and her boyfriend, and she snapped their pictures with her phone. She also learned the case was not assigned to an investigator for more than a week. Two detectives have now been assigned to this case, and Police Chief Tim Longo has asked his field operations and support services units to tell him who dropped the ball.
