A bi-partisan group of U.S. Senators has crafted legislation that focuses on sexual assault on college campuses. Virginia’s senior U.S. Senator, Democrat Mark Warner (pictured), is among eight sponsors of the Campus Safety and Accountability Act. Iowa Republican Charles Grassley says he and his fellow co-sponsors want to make sure colleges and universities take the issue seriously. Grassley says there are some universities that are often reluctant to say much because they fear it will harm the school’s reputation. The issue gained new prominence after the U.S. Department of Education released lists of 67 schools that are facing greater scrutiny. The federal agency has listed schools from coast to coast, including the University of Virginia, the College of William and Mary, and the University of Richmond.
