City Police have shed more light on the sequence of events of a recent assault case on the Downtown Mall.  Police Lieutenant Ronnie Roberts says an officer on the midnight shift responded after three young men savagely beat a man and woman on December 20th. He says the hours that officer is on duty are not compatible with the work schedules of the victims and potential witnesses. Roberts says the case should have been assigned to detectives on the weekend before Christmas.  He says Chief Tim Longo has assigned the case to a pair of detectives who are giving it their full attention. Roberts was a recent guest on WINA’s Charlottesville…Right Now.
