Hundley Has Virginia’s Attention

Hundley Has Virginia’s Attention

Now eleven days from a showdown with a leading candidate for the Heisman trophy, the Virginia Cavaliers know stopping quarterback Brett Hundley will be the key to pulling off the upset of the Bruins.  Last year Hundley completed 67% of his passes and threw for 3,071 yards.  Hundley passed for 24 touchdowns and ran for 9 more.  Virginia’s defensive line coach Jappy Oliver says the versatility of Hundley certainly has their attention.  ” Regardless of your scheme and what you’re trying to do, you gotta keep him in the pocket,  there’s no question cause he’s a dual threat, he’s got good wheels, he makes good decisions.  Long story short, regardless of what you’re doing if you’re rushing four you want two guys on each side of him.”

Virginia will certainly try to get to Hundley on game day, given Jon Tenuta’s aggressive style of defense with its multiple pressure packages.  UCLA had difficulty last year protecting Hundley, as their offensive line gave up 36 sacks.  Conversely, Virginia gave up 24 sacks last year.  The one equalizer for the Bruins is Hundley’s athleticism, which gives him the ability to escape pressure and make big plays, a fact that Virginia’s secondary will be highly aware of.   Make sure to listen tonight at 6 to WINA’s Best Seat In The House for more analysis of the match up, as Voice of the Cavaliers Dave Koehn, and Tony Covington will join the program.
