GOP Leaders Celebrate  State Senate Victory

Republicans are celebrating this week’s special election results from Southwest Virginia. The GOP has an absolute majority in the State Senate after it picked up a seat that a Democrat vacated in early June. James City County Republican Tommy Norment (pictured) is glad his party holds 21 of the 40 seats in the Virginia Senate. Norment hopes Governor McAuliffe will not make a “full court press” to expand the Commonwealth’s Medicaid program. Russell County GOP Delegate Ben Chafin will succeed Democrat Phil Puckett, who gave up his seat after 16 years.
