First Warner-Gillespie Debate Takes Place Before Virginia Bar Association

Virginia’s major party nominees for the U.S. Senate highlighted their differences during a 90-minute verbal slugfest before the Virginia Bar Association. Freshman Democratic incumbent Mark Warner and his Republican challenger Ed Gillespie don’t see eye-to-eye on issues such as the Affordable Care Act and same-sex marriages. Gillespie says Obamacare is hurting the Virginia and U.S. ecomony and has to be replaced. Warner voted for the 2010 law and says he doesn’t want it to become a political football. Gillespie says he believes a marriage should be the union of one man and one woman, and Warner supports same-sex marriages. Libertarian Robert Sarvis was not invited to Saturday’s event at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
