A lawsuit has been filed by a UVA student who was confronted by ABC agents for having sparkling water. They thought she was under age and in possession of alcohol when she was approached in a grocery store parking lot in April 2013. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that Elizabeth Daly is asking for $40 million in damages from the state and seven ABC agents. Daly and a friend say they were terrified when people not wearing uniforms and carrying guns surrounded her car and banged on the windows. The Times-Dispatch reports the lawsuit that was filed in Richmond Circuit Court says the state failed to train ABC agents properly, among other claims.
