City councilors got advice Monday night from advocates for public housing tenants and other low-income families. The council is working on a more than $150 million budget proposal for the next fiscal year.┬áBrandon Collins (pictured) spoke on behalf of public housing tenants. The city is┬ánot considering any changes in the property tax rate, which is currently 95 cents for every $100 of assessed value. The councilors are toying with the idea of boosting the city’s tobacco tax by another 20 cents per pack. The council will hold another budget public hearing on April 7th.
