Bell Shares Views On Mental Health Reform, Medicaid

Photo: WINA

Mental health issues topped nearly everyone’s list when state lawmakers came back to Richmond in January.  Those matters became more prominent after State Senator Creigh Deeds’ son attacked his father and then took his own life. It happened 12 hours after the younger Deeds went home to Bath County after a mental health agency could NOT find a psychiatric bed. Delegate Rob Bell (pictured) is upset over suggestions that a report on the November 19th incident was sanitized. The author of the report has abruptly resigned, and pointed a finger at his former boss. Bell also says there’s only one obstacle that prevents the General Assembly from adjourning on time, and it’s Medicaid expansion.  He was a guest on WINA’s Morning News with Rick and Jane.
