Another Beating, Robbery In Downtown Area

A woman was beaten and robbed in the downtown area New Year’s Eve. It was reported at five minutes before midnight on East Water Street near the Downtown Transit Center. Police say the 25-year-old woman was hit from behind, she was knocked to the ground, and two men stole her purse. They were last seen running westward on Water Street. The woman was taken to UVA Hospital for treatment of injuries. The suspects are described as two black males; one was heavyset and tall, the other was slender built.
