Amherst Man Sentenced For His Crimes In Albemarle

An Amherst man who’s been convicted of home break-ins across Virginia was sentenced Tuesday afternoon in Albemarle. Judge Cheryl Higgins gave Kevin Scott Burchardt (pictured) 30 additional years behind bars. To the dismay of some of Burchardt’s victims, the Albemarle part of his sentence will be served concurrently with the 88 years he’s received in less populous counties. The 34-year-old was sentenced earlier in other local jurisdictions, including Fluvanna and Nelson.
