Albemarle is among the school divisions where students have had a lot of snow days this winter. The county is now asking parents and staff members for feedback on the best way to make up the lost time. Assistant Superintendent Matt Haas has sent out a survey that gives parents and employees a list of alternatives for making up ten snow days. One option involves simply adding days to the end of the school year. The e-mailed survey also includes using the last Saturday in April and the first Saturday in May as make-up days. The county could also do what the city is doing, by designating March 28th as a class day. The other options include tacking on 20 minutes every weekday beginning April 21st, and holding classes on May 26th, which is Memorial Day. The county could also request a waiver for days that were lost during this month’s state of emergency. The Albemarle School Board will tackle these issues during its Thursday night meeting.
