An injured bald eagle that was discovered in Amherst County last Saturday has now been euthanized at The Wildlife Center of Virginia in Waynesboro. The injured bird was found last Saturday near the Route 29 Bypass north of Lynchburg.
A spokeswoman for the Wildlife Center says the eagle was suffering from lead poisoning and severe internal trauma. Amanda Nicholson says the animal was treated with painkillers until its condition worsened late Tuesday night. Ed Clark (pictured) is the founder of the Wildlife Center.
