Our region got socked Thursday night with powerful storms, and the evening hours were punctuated with threats of tornadoes and flash flood warnings. There were no confirmed tornadoes in our area, but most local roadways experienced heavy rains. More than 1000 country music fans had to make a quicker-than-planned exit from the Charlottesville Pavilion. City Police Lieutenant Gary Pleasants (pictured) says he advised those associated with the concert that radar had indicated a possible tornado was headed to Charlottesville from the North Garden area. Pleasants says as soon as the Pavilion shut down, the city streets were pelted with heavy rain. Albemarle Police Lieutenant Pam Greenwood says debris hampered travelers Thursday night on Route 53 in the area around Michie Tavern. Plank Road, which is in the western part of the county, also had problems. Josh Bare of the Hope Community Center says his facility on 11th St., N.W. accepted homeless people who were seeking overnight shelter.

Speak Your Mind!!! Tell Us What You Think of the Station! Speak Your Mind!!! Tell Us What You Think of the Station!

YOU GO!!! Thank you for running Stephanie Miller. She rocks!!!
Heather,
Charlottesville

This is the best station in Charlottesville. Just wish your signal was stronger in our Palmyra area. I listen as often as I can. Thom Hartmann, Bill Press and Ed Shultz are my favorites. It is great radio. Keep up the good work!!!!!

Lucille,
Palmyra, VA

While all the shows are good, I am especially happpy to hear Thom Hartmann and Lionel on air in Charlottesville
! This is some of the most intelligent annd thoughtful radio to be found anywhere. And in the mornings, one can do no better than to start the day with Stephanie Miller- the show is smart, funny, irreverent, well produced, and frankly- it's just Damn Good Radio!

Noel,
Charlottesville

Thom Hartmann, Lionel, and Jacki Guerra are simply outstanding; also excellent are Bill Press, Randi Rhodes, Young Turks, Mark Riley, and Rachel Maddow.

Pablo,
Charlottesville

I've never heard it better. The Ed Schultz Show, the best voice in radio.

Chris,
Albemarle County

So glad to have the progressive format in Charlottesville. I enjoy listening to all of your on-air personalities, but often learn something useful from Bill Press and especially Thom Hartmann. Make sure all of your sponsors are displayed on the website so I can support them, too.

Wayne, Charlottesville

Thanks so much for bringing progressive talk to Charlottesville! I despaired of ever hearing from the left on the radio. I especially love, um, all the shows!!

Cherise,
Charlottesville

I really, really appreciate your radio station - it's such a breath of fresh air on the local airwaves and I enjoy the programming a great deal...Your best programs, like Stephanie Miller and Rachel Madows, combine insightful analysis with entertaining, lively and humorous hosts - thanks for having this station in Charlottesville.

Doug,
Charlottesville

I just can't thank you enough for the information I'm getting by listening. And I just can't seem to stop listening. I've told all my friends about you.

--Bonnie Cutright, Charlottesville

I'm delighted that you've decided to carry the Thom Hartmann show on weekdays. I think all the liberals in C'ville will become instant fans of his phat intellect, his vast experience and his profound understanding of our democracy, its history and the issues of the day.

--Craig, Charlottesville

I'm so glad Charlottesville, a city that is predominantly democratic, finally has a radio station that challenges the "right wing" garbage that is usually on talk radio. WVAX is Awesome!

-- Margaret, Charlottesville

I really like Randi Rhodes, she pulls no punches! She is calling out the Bush Administration on their plans to attack Iran, and it is scary stuff!

--Amber, Crozet

Big Eddie Schultz is back in Charlottesville, I thought I was going to lose it when WINA dropped his show, but now that WVAX has him, I listen every night at 7! THANK YOU WVAX!!!!!!!!!

--Paul, Earlysville

This is exactly what this town needs! Some truth syrum! I love this station, and finally we'll hear the truth about the oil companies and the Bush administration!

--Steve, North Garden

Thank you for bringing the truth to Charlottesville. I congratulate you on your stations' format - it is LONG overdue - we have been languishing in "Limbaugh-Land" forever and it is so refreshing to have our side of things, the progressive/liberal point of view, represented at last.

I wish you great success and a long, long run here in Charlottesville, welcome!

-- Craig, Charlottesville

I'm so thrilled y'all have brought progressive talk to C-ville.
I'm telling everyone I know and sending links, etc. I'm so happy, happy, happy I may even go off my antidepressants (which I've been taking since W showed up) Thank you!!!

--Jennifer, Charlottesville

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are exactly what Charlottesville needed. Now I can listen to Ed Schultz without his being preempted by sports. Thom Hartman is fantastic too. Keep up the good work.
